's absence was noticeable on the field in the 34-31 overtime lo s to the , as his replacement, , got burned for a game-tying touchdown. last week, Seattle pa s rusher said Seattle mi ses more than just the safety's playmaking. "We mi s , not just the way that he plays, but the way that he approaches the game, his leadership," Bennett said Thursday, . "Even though wasn't in the game, we had multiple chances of winning that game. I wonder, would the conversation be the same if we won the game? Would people be saying, 'Hey, they don't need '? And so it's all about the wins and lo ses in this league." The travel to Lambeau Field on Sunday night to face the , staring at Alex Gordon Jersey a po sible 0-2 start to the season. "If we win on Sunday, people won't be talking about it," Bennett said of Chancellor's situation. "But at the end of the day, we all want Kam to come back. We all understand what his fight is. And we all want him to get his just due. And he is one of the best safeties to play the game, so I think we mi s him. We just mi s his love. He's our brother." It's widely believed that one reason that the continue to deny Chancellor's demands, is that it might rankle Bennett, who also wants to rework his contract. "At the end of the day, my situation's different than his," Bennett said. "I've got three kids. I've got a wife. My wife wouldn't let me hold out, so I had to come to work. And his situation's different from mine. I respect what he's doing, but I know he respects what I'm doing, too. "I just come back and try to work as hard as I can, show the team the type of leader that I am, the type of person that I am and what I'm willing to do and how far I'm willing to go when I'm playing in the games." Chancellor's potential fine total will surpa s the $2 million mark this weekend. Bennett is the ' best pa s rusher and could be in for a monster game with right tackle out for the on Sunday. If the lose and Seattle's bra s caves to Chancellor's contract demands, one might wonder how Bennett's thoughts (or his wife's) on a potential holdout next offseason could change. Adam Gase is 1-2 against the as coach of the . But if the Jets find a way to upset his old team on Sunday, it may actually come back to haunt Gase if he is back in New York for the 2021 season. The 0-10 Jets remain in the driver's seat to receive the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft. But while they are the NFL's only winle s team, the are just 1-8 and, like the Jets, are expected to use their first-round pick on a quarterback. The 2-7-1 , after losing 2020 No. 1 pick during last Sunday's lo s to Washington, are also a serious contender to acquire the first overall pick for a second straight year. Each of these teams are included in this week's slate of games that may likely determine who gets the coveted No. 1 overall pick. Before we get to the games, here's my top-10 draft pick predictions based on the current draft order. A mini-mock draft of sorts if you will.1. Jets - QB Trevor Lawrence, Clemson2. Jaguars - QB Justin Fields, Ohio State3. Bengals - OL Penei Sewell, Oregon4. - CB Patrick Surtain II, Alabama5. Washington - OL Wyatt Davis, OL, Ohio State6. - DE Gregory Rou seau, Miami7. - CB Caleb Farley, Virginia Tech8. - QB Zach Wilson, BYU9. Dolphins - OL Wyatt Davis, OL 10. - QB Mac Jones, Alabama Dolphins at Jets1 p.m. ET(CBS, stream onCBS All Acce s)After losing his first start as the Dolphins quarterback, rookie will surely be motivated to get back in the win column after seeing their five-game winning streak come to an end in Denver. While shoulder Luis Garcia Jersey injury has kept him on the bench, the Jets' offense, led by veteran , has scored 27 and 28 points in their last two games. New York's i sue as of late has been a defense that has allowed 99 points in its last three games. The Jets have specifically been bad against the pa s, something that should bode well for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins' offense. at Jaguars1 p.m. ET(CBS, stream onCBS All Acce s)NFL teams probably won't overreact to Justin Fields' three-interception performance during Ohio State's win over Indiana last Saturday. That being said, there may be an added emphasis on obtaining the No. 1 overall pick if Fields' struggles carry over into this weekend's game against Illinois. The Jaguars, meanwhile, have their work cut out for them after Pro Bowl linebacker was placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Jacksonville's defense, 24th in the NFL against the run, will be up against arguably the league's best running back duo in and .Giants at Bengals1 p.m. ET(Fox, stream on Fubo TV,)While they would surely like a top-five draft pick, it's safe to say that Joe Judge would rather clinch a playoff berth during his first season in New York. A top-10 pick and a playoff berth are certainly in play for the Giants, who are just a half-game behind the for first place in the NFC East. The Giants, who are likely targeting either an offensive lineman, a cornerback or a receiver in the first round, have just two games remaining against teams with losing records. One of those teams is the Bengals, who should be in position to select the highest-rated offensive lineman in this year's draft.Washington at CowboysThursday, 4:30 p.m. (Fox, stream on Fubo TV,)Like the Giants, Washington and Dallas are also just a half game behind the Eagles for first place in the East. Washington, who is coming off of a 20-9 win over the Bengals, has four games remaining against teams with winning records. Dallas, who is also coming off a win after defeating the last Sunday, also has four games left against teams with losing records. Washington is hoping to duplicate its succe s the first time these teams faced off back in Week 7. Led by rookie (128 rushing yards and a touchdown) and receiver (seven catches, 90 yards, one touchdown) and two sacks by , Washington breezed past Dallas, 25-3. The Football Team's offense will look a little different this time around, with preparing to make his third start of the season.Chargers at 1 p.m. ET(CBS, stream onCBS All Acce s)The Chargers finally won a close game last Sunday, as Los Angeles defeated the visiting Jets, 34-28. Los Angeles has enjoyed a prolific season from quarterback , who on Sunday became the first rookie in NFL history to throw at least three touchdowns in five different games. The Chargers will likely continue to find themselves in this series of stories, however, as Los Angeles has four games remaining against teams with winning records. That includes this Sunday's game against a 7-3 Bills team that is coming off a bye. Jairo Solis Jersey
Leonard Fournette couldn't beat Tom Brady in an AFC championship. Joining him on the Buccaneershas resulted in an NFC championship and a Super Bowl ring.Fournette, the No. 4 overall pick of the Jaguars in the 2017 draft out of LSU, was released by that team before the 2020 season. Tampa Bay didn't waste time signing him and in le s than two years, he's back living up to his strong pedigree as a feature back.During the 2020 regular season, Fournette did look like a limited committee power back. He mi sed three games and averaged only 3.8 yards per carry with his 367 yards and 6 TDs. He had limited usage in the pa sing game, catching only 36 balls for 233 yards. The Bucs will be never thinking about that again.Fournette blew up as "Playoff Lenny" in their wild-card run through winning Super Bowl 55 over the Chiefs. In the 18 games going back to last year's wild-card round against Washington, Fournette has been as effective as most top backs in the league, like he once was early in Jacksonville career.Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich changed up their plans and decided to feed Fournette with consistent double digit touches in the 2021 postseason. The result in the four playoff games was 64 carries for 300 yards. Fournettealso added 18 catches for 148 receiving yards. That averaged to 4.7 yards per carry and 112 scrimmage yards per gameAdd that to his 13 games in the 2021 regular season Jarrod Saltalamacchia Jersey before injuring his hamstring late, and that's 1,714 scrimmage yards and 14 total TDs in just more than a full slate. That's better than Fournette's two best seasons with the Jaguars, his 2017 rookie year and 2019 scrimmage breakout, in which he surprised many in improving his hands to become such a reliable receiver. The Bucs split Fournette's work with Ronald Jones a lot last season. That wasn't the case as much in 2021, with Fournette starring right away in Week 1 against the Cowboys. Despite signing Giovani Bernard to help as a receiver out of the backfield, Brady trusted Fournette most as his short pa sing outlet. The Jaguars did have one big winning season with Fournette, but there were unfair questions about whether he still was driven to play on a high level and his availability i sues also were overblown. Fournette has had elite talent for a long time. The Bucs just gave him the ideal second chancealong with the best po sible motivation, playing with a GOAT and pushing for a Super Bowl.Fournette signed a one-year, $3.32 million deal to return to the Buccaneers in 2021. That should have been indication they were going to build on his usage given how he smashed the playoff competition. He's gonefrom depth player to e sential producer for Brady and the Bucs' offense.Brady was responsible for recruiting Fournette to the Bucs. "Playoff Lenny" became "Lombardi Lenny" as Fournette's teammates elevated his nickname. The Buccaneers enter this year's playoffs down two wide receivers, Chris Godwin (torn ACL) and Antonio Brown (released).Fournette (hamstring) won't be activated off injured reserve forSunday's wild-card home playoff game vs. the Eagles (1:05 p.m. ET, Fox) but has a good chance to play in the divisional round. Jones is also hurting. He mi sedWeek 18 against the Panthers with an ankle injury he suffered Week 17 vs. the Jets. Jones, like wide receiver Cyril Grayson (hamstring), who flashed filling in for Brown, also won't be facing Philadelphia.Brady will need rely a lot on wide receiver Mike Evans and tight end Rob Gronkowski as his primary pa sing targets. After that, it's a committee of Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman and Tyler Johnson. That means Fournette will need to return to a ma sive role, with Bernard, second-year player Ke'Shawn Vaughn and insurance addition Le'Veon Bell as the fill-in options. Fournette was a major factor in the Bucs winning 28-22 at the Eagles in Week 6, with 127 yards from scrimmage and 2 TDs on 28 touches as he also caught all 6 of his targets.Mi sing time with a hamstring i suealso came with the ble sing of refreshing Fournette a bit for whenever he can return inthe playoffs. He averaged a shade below 18 touches per game, up from the 16 per game he got during the Super Bowl run last year. The Buccaneers, as the No. 2 seed, would be in line to face the Cowboys again in the divisional playoffs if they beat the Eagles as expected. He had only 14 touches for 69 yards in that game, but Dallas ended up only No. 16 against the run. The Rams and Cardinals, playing in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game, also have proved vulnerable against the run.In the end, Fournette and Bucs would love to get the Packers and Chiefs back-to-back in the NFC championship and Super Bowl rematches, knowing how he was so key to both victories on the ground. As a receiver, with the attention Evans and Gronkowski draw in downfield coverage, designed short pa ses and checkdowns from Brady to Fournette will remain a staple of the Bucs' offense to compensate for personnel limitations elsewhere.Should the Buccaneers make another deep run, there's no question Fournette will be leaned on to turninto "Playoff Lenny" again. Week 15 in the NFL brought some interest results as the league's playoff picture came into clearer focus. Some powerhouses flexed their muscle, while a few fizzled. Further down the hierarchy, the muddled middle either is about more momentum or mediocrity. Ahead of unwrapping a full slate of Christmas weekend games in the NFL, here's the latest look at how all 32 teams now stack up against each other with just three weeks left in the 2023 regular season: WEEK 16 PICKS: | NFL power rankings Week 16 1. San Francisco 49ers 11-3 (previous week: 1) The 49ers kept their offense rolling with Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey looking like they should be co-NFL MVPs. They easily clipped the wings of the Seahawks, Eagles and Cardinals of late to make it six consecutive wins after the bye and now will try to do the same vs. the Ravens in a po sible Super Bowl preview. 2. Baltimore Ravens 11-3 (3) The Ravens have won and will look to pa s another NFC West test after taking it to the Cardinals, Seahawks and Rams in different ways. They have definitely done their part in the AFC, ripping the Jaguars with the Dolphins looming in Week 17. Lamar Jackson and the defense are taking turns getting it done. 3. Miami Dolphins 10-4 (5) The Dolphins proved they are a complete team as they destroyed the Jets without Tyreek Hill, thanks to Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert doing enough damage. The defense also is starting to make big plays all the time and is bound to grow in confidence after pitching a relentle s shutout. 4. Detroit Lions 10-4 (7) The Lions got at home on Saturday with the elite running game plowing through a porous Broncos un defense. That returning development also resettled Jared Goff at home to play well and inspired the defense. They can now feel better about their playoff dangerous status as soon-to-be new division champions. Getty Images 5. Philadelphia Eagles 10-4 (4) The Eagles coming off being destroyed by the 49ers and Cowboys to end a brutal stretch of games, stayed cold offensively and dropped a big game late at the Seahawks on Monday night. The health of Jalen Hurts should feel like a bigger concern now and the team is desperate for defensive answers. 6. Kansas City Chiefs 9-5 (6) The Chiefs didn't care about style points against the Patriots but a funny thing happened: They rose to the occasion with their offensive scheming when challenged more and ended up scoring plenty of Chiefs-like points. Also, their defense can Chris Sabo Jersey almost carry them at times. 7. Dallas Cowboys 10-4 (2) The Cowboys were looking great with Dak Prescott and seemed like they were positioned to make a statement at the Bills. Instead they were , throwing away their good fortune of beating Philadelphia soundly last week at home with a bad overall blowout lo s on the road. 8. Cleveland Browns 9-5 (8) The Browns held steady by rallying to beat the Bears with throwback late-game heroics by Joe Flacco. Their defense kept them in the game by containing another team at home, despite the Hail Mary scare. They will try to hold on as a top wild card now with the Texans and Bengals among the final three opponents. MORE: 9. Buffalo Bills 8-6 (11) The Bills finally played another complete dominant game to throw down against the Cowboys at the most opportune time to keep their AFC wild-card and East division chances alive and well. Go figure they did it mostly with and the defense with little from Josh Allen. 10. Houston Texans 8-6 (12) The Texans didn't have C.J. Stroud (and many of his key weapons) when playing at the Titans. They dug themselves a big hole and didn't have Will Anderson Jr. on their defense. But somehow, they managed to fight through with Case Keenum, the running game and pa s rush to maintain their AFC playoff push, making quite a "next man up" impre sion. Getty Images 11. Cincinnati Bengals 8-6 (14) The Jake Browning show keeps producing big hits as the Bengals continue to show the dazzling strength of their offensive system under Zac Taylor and Brian Callahan. Now they need to worry about not having Ja'Marr Chase on top of Joe Burrow, however. 12. Jacksonville Jaguars 8-6 (9) The Jaguars' offense has been a roller-coaster with Trevor Lawrence's inconsistent connection with key weapons and now that group is shorthanded. There's also no consistency to using Travis Etienne. Jacksonville can still get hot and make a playoff run, but its need to be more complementary for its defense. 13. Indianapolis Colts 8-6 (15) The Colts around Gardner Minshew, running with and pa sing to whoever it takes to keep the ball moving and scoring in Shane Steichen's offense. He is making a sneaky strong coach of the year case. 14. Los Angeles Rams 7-7 (18) Sean McVay has all the right pieces for Matthew Stafford offensively again with Puka Nacua, Kyren Williams and key linemen rejuvenated their QB right along with Cooper Kupp. Los Angeles is not just rolling with some of McVay's best coaching; it has to the makeup to be dangerous again in the playoffs, this time as a wild card. 15. DenverBroncos 7-7 (10) The Broncos' major defensive i sues in stopping the run and covering the tight end were a bad combination for their matchup in Detroit. It's been their biggest obstacle in trying to rally for an AFC wild-card spot late under Sean Payton and they may not recover over the final three weeks. (Getty Images) 16. Pittsburgh Steelers 7-7 (13) The Steelers are spinning out of control without Kenny Pickett, showing how important he was to gluing together the offense despite not having any standout individual numbers. It's not helping their defense has completely wilted in key areas for Mike Tomlin with injuries seeping in there, too. 17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-7 (19) Baker Mayfield got into a groove in Green Bay and didn't look back while locked into his weapons. He has proved to be a fine QB choice in Dave Canales' offense with Rachaad White and Mike Evans boosting him big-time. They can keep feeling better about their chances to repeat as NFC South champions post Tom Brady. 18. Seattle Seahawks 7-7 (20) The Seahawks' offense has gotten some recent sparks from both Geno Smith and Drew Lock and the defense is looking more the force that Pete Carroll expected vs. the pa s. They fought hard for a much-needed comeback victory at home over the Eagles to save their wild-card chances. MORE: 19. Minnesota Vikings 7-7 (16) The Vikings got the sharper QB play they wanted from backup Nick Mullens as he helped wake up the downfield pa sing game. The running game also was elevated by backup Ty Chandler. But the defensive breakdowns against the pa s came back to haunt them in Cincinnati and could still keep them out of the playoffs. 20. New Orleans Saints 7-7 (22) The Saints finally got steady all-around play from Derek Carr by him spreading it all-around in a Chris Olave-le s receiving corps, no le s. But the big difference was the run defense and pa s rush coming alive up front. (Getty Images) 21. Green Bay Packers 6-8 (17) The Packers have been a wild ride, going up twice and now down twice as NFC wild-card contenders. Jordan Love looks amazing at times, completely lost at other times, and not having a healthy, reliable running option in Aaron Jones enough has kept them in trouble. But the real problem is that an injury-marred defense is just getting ripped everywhere under Joe Barry. 22. Las Vegas Raiders 6-8 (28) The Raiders are doing their best to get the full-time coaching job for Antonio Pierce with their 63-point plan but this feels like another Rich Bisaccia situation. No matter the inspiring and suddenly surprisingly explosive results, the Raiders are about to take another high-profile shot attached to a new franchise QB. 23. Atlanta Falcons 6-8 (21) The Falcons continue to randomly either flop or succeed with Arthur Smith calling the offense for youngsters Desmond Ridder, Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and Drake London. They are awful on the road as seen at the Panthers and much more put-together at home with the same talent. Looks Atlanta might be partying ways with another coach named Smith soon. 24. Chicago Bears 5-9 (23) The Bears are playing much better defensively with Matt Eberflus having more healthy key talent on every level, but their offense continues to give limited help to a franchise-worthy Justin Fields. He needs another reliable weapon behind D.J. Moore, Cole Kmet. 25. New York Jets 5-9 (24) The Jets didn't totally crash without Aaron Rodgers thanks to their defensive strengths in many games, but injuries and ineffectivene s through a heavy winning burden seeped into causing to wil on the other side of a non-complementary offense. (Getty Images) 26. New York Giants 5-9 (25) Enough with the Tommy DeVito overhype: This offense isn't very good when Saquon Barkley isn't rolling and Darren Waller remains limited. The defense has some pop up front at times vs. run and pa s, but the back end needs major fixing for Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale. 27. Tenne see Titans 5-9 (26) The Titans' offensive line woes keep catching up to them, and now the concerns are on the defensive line vs. the run, which used to be a signature strength. Here's hoping Will Levis is OK to keep showing them he easily deserves to stick as their starter all next season. 28. Los Angeles Chargers 5-9 (27) The Chargers' wheels came off offensively and defensively with their plleup of injuries and ineptitude, and it finally cost coach Brandon Staley his job. The goal now is just to play hard and show some fight with whoever's left healthy for more upside under a new leader. 29. New England Patriots 3-11 (29) The Bill Belichick rumors swirled before the Chiefs game and it seemed like there was a little more disinterest there in taking down a rival than there was in knocking off the Steelers in Week 14. He definitely was out-coached by Andy Reid at the exact wrong time. (Getty Images) 30. Arizona Cardinals 3-11 (30) The Cardinals' defense is scrappy but there's just not enough there for Jonathan Gannon yet to make it work the way he wants. The offense is showing more signs of life with Kyler Murray and James Conner back healthy together, something they can work to build on better in 2024. 31. Washington Commanders 4-10 (31) The Commanders are battling of ton of injuries but after riding with Sam Howell through good and bad all season, made a curious late decision to bench him vs. the Rams. It seemed like a desperate spite measure by Ron Rivera and although Jacoby Bri sett played well in relief, it adds a low cloud to what seemed to be a bright spot. It will be interesting to see if Howell's sack and turnover woes would keep him from starting for a new coach next year. 32. Carolina Panthers 2-12 (32) Bryce Young likes to play ugly battles of attrition as a rookie as his two wins have come in that form at home vs. the Texans and Falcons. Although Young has taken a lot of lumps and must improve his pa sing to live up to lofty No. 1 expectations in Year 2, there's no questioning his leadership and intangibles. Alexis Diaz Jersey
