Name Your Network


Now you will be asked to give your WiFi a name (SSID) and a password. Avoid special characters that might confuse older smart home devices. The beauty of mesh is that your 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands share one name. Your Velop will automatically move your devices to the fastest lane available. After choosing a name for the network, choose a password that secures the wireless network from unauthorized access. Make sure the password is a combination of alpha numeric and special character. 

Adding Child Nodes


Once the parent node is live, it’s time to extend the range. In the app, tap Add Another Node. Place your child node in an open area, ideally no more than two rooms away from the parent node. Plug it in and wait for that purple light again. Follow the app prompts to spot check the connection. If the app says the signal is weak, try moving it a bit closer.

Verify Setup Success


After the configuration finishes, look at the LED on top of your nodes.

  • Solid Blue: You are golden. Everything is connected and working.
  • Red: Connection lost. Check your cables.
  • Yellow/Amber: The node is too far away from the others.
