The game hides some of its most interesting vehicles behind long-term progression, Car Mastery rewards, exploration objectives, and competitive Auction House listings. Understanding these systems can save you time and help you focus on the cars you actually want.
For players managing FH6 Credits while building a collection, it is important to know which vehicles can be earned directly and which require a specific unlock method. Some cars are almost impossible to obtain through normal purchases, while others can be unlocked quickly if you know which donor vehicle to buy.
The 2023 BMW M2 Forza Edition is one of the biggest targets for serious collectors. It is considered one of the rarest non-DLC vehicles because of the amount of work required to unlock it naturally.
The requirement is tied to the Horizon Legend section of the Collection Journal, where you need to earn 5,000 points. Getting there involves reaching the Gold Wristband and completing a wide variety of events.
You will need to work through road, dirt, circuit, and cross-country races, as well as earning three-star ratings on events and PR Stunts. This makes the BMW M2 a long-term objective rather than something you can casually unlock during a weekend.
The Toyota AE86 Forza Edition also requires broad completion. Its unlock requirements involve areas such as stories, day trips, garages, and house unlocks. If you want both vehicles, it makes sense to progress through the Collection Journal systematically.
Car Mastery is one of the easiest systems to understand once you know how it works. Certain standard Autoshow cars act as donor vehicles for special rewards.
For example, buying the 1995 Ferrari F50 and spending around 50 Skill Points on its Car Mastery tree can unlock the 1996 Ferrari F50 GT.
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray can unlock the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427 for approximately 64 Skill Points. The 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder leads to the 2003 Porsche Carrera GT after around 65 points.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R is another interesting option, as its tree can unlock the 1974 Honda Civic RS. The 1994 Ford Supervan 3 can similarly lead to the 2022 Ford Supervan 4.
This approach is particularly useful if you dislike Auction House competition. You know exactly which car to buy, how many Skill Points you need, and what reward you are working toward.
If you want several of these rewards, it is worth building a Skill Point reserve first. Do not spend every point immediately on random Car Mastery perks if you know that a rare reward is your main objective.
A good approach is to use activities that let you build long Skill Chains efficiently. Once you have enough points, purchase the donor vehicle and unlock the relevant nodes.
This method also gives you a clear use for Skill Points that you might otherwise ignore. Instead of collecting points without a purpose, you can turn them directly into rare vehicles.
Barn Finds provide another route to rare cars. FH6 uses the Discover Japan Explorer progression system to unlock these hidden vehicles.
You need to earn stamps and raise your Explorer Level before additional Barn Finds become available. At Level 4, Pathfinder, vehicles such as the 1998 Nissan #23 Pennzoil NISMO Skyline GT-R and the 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 become part of the progression.
At Level 7, Master Explorer, you can pursue the 1991 Mazda #55 Mazda 787B and the 1983 Nissan #11 Tomica Skyline Turbo Super Silhouette.
The 787B is especially appealing to racing fans, but these rewards are also valuable simply because they encourage you to explore more of the map.
Regional Treasure Cars work differently from Barn Finds. There are nine hidden vehicles, and clues can appear when you first enter one of the game's ten regions.
The 1969 Dodge Charger, for example, is hidden in the Minamino region near the golf course clubhouse.
Pay attention to voice hints and explore around landmarks instead of immediately driving away. These cars are designed to reward curiosity, so driving through every region at least once can be worthwhile.
If you would rather spend time racing than completing every unlock requirement, the Auction House can provide an alternative route.
The biggest challenge is timing. Rare listings may disappear within seconds, particularly when multiple collectors are searching for the same vehicle.
Some players use the Peel P50 as their active car before entering the Auction House because its small size can help reduce visual loading. Turning off Moving Backgrounds and UI Motion Blur can also make the interface feel more responsive.
When searching, stay on the model results page and watch for new listings. Opening an auction individually takes extra time, so experienced buyers try to move directly from a new listing to the Buyout option.
There is no single best way to collect every vehicle. Some players enjoy earning everything through progression, while others would rather focus on racing and use the Auction House when possible.
If your goal is to build a collection of rare Forza Horizon 6 Cars, the smartest strategy is usually to combine all available methods. Work toward the major Collection Journal rewards, unlock secret vehicles through Car Mastery, and explore the map for hidden cars.
At the same time, keep an eye on the Auction House for vehicles that would take too long to unlock naturally. This approach lets you enjoy the game without turning every rare car into a mandatory grind.
The most important thing is to understand what each vehicle requires before you start spending resources. Some cars need thousands of points of progression, while others are only a Car Mastery tree away. Knowing the difference makes it much easier to decide where to invest your time and FH6 Credits.
