One of the tools we use at work has an Android app that's much better than its web version, and I'm tired of keeping my phone next to the keyboard just for that. I want to leave the app logged in, keep all its files separate from my personal stuff, and open Android in a window whenever I'm working. I don't need a whole farm of devices, just one reliable setup on my PC. What virtual machine for Android would you use for something like this?
That phone would end up glued to the desk, which kind of defeats the point of having it as a personal device. I'd move the work app to Genymotion Desktop and keep that whole setup on the PC. Create a device with the Android version the app needs, log in once, and leave it there between sessions. Then the phone goes back in your pocket and the work app stays where the rest of your work already is.
The only thing I'd decide beforehand is whether you want that Android device tied to one computer or available from anywhere. A local setup is fine when you always work from the same PC, while a cloud device makes more sense if you move between machines. There's a comparison of the best virtual machine for Android here: https://gologin.com/blog/best-virtual-machine-for-android/ . See which ones keep the same device and apps between sessions and whether they let you install your own APKs. That'll tell you pretty quickly which ones fit the way you actually work.
